Hari Raya Celebrations in Melaka

Having not celebrated Hari Raya last year i was very exicited to be able to celebrate it this year :D For those who aren't familiar with the Hari Raya Adilfitri celebrations, well imagine it's something like Christmas or Thanksgiving where you have huge feasts and family gatherings! Really something to look forward too every year.

This year was really different in a sense that my mom and my aunties had organised a festival like event where there was a a huge BBQ pit cooking everything from fresh steak to Satay (run by manly of the manly cousins) and we even had one of my Aunty make her famous spaghetti and meatballs!

Aside from the amazing amounts of food that had caused me to gain some serious 'poundage' we had a karaoke singing competition as well as other game events which included a Q&A session where i learned for the first time how old my grandmother was and when she was born (she was born waaaaaaaayyy before War War II !!!!!!!) and that all together my aunties, uncles, cousins and their husband/wife plus their kids totalled to more than 62 people and that is just a rough estimate! No wonder the family house in Kampung Musai, Melaka is always crowded and this year it was so crowded that a few families which included my own had to stay at the hotel near the kampung. There seriously was no room available at the family house! For next Hari Raya my mom was suggesting maybe us younger generation family members (meaning from the age of a few months to 28 years of age) should do a camp out on the family land, camp fire and all. Now i can't wait for next year cause seriously it would be like a whole army platoon camping out in the star filled night!

All in all i had a great time and this year i really got to know my family better and it's scary how each year everyone grows up just a bit more. Imagine seeing a cousin who's a baby in your head turning out to be now a 11 year old kicking and screaming monster who jumps on you at every opportunity. True Story.

Well anyways to everyone, Selamat Hari Raya Adilfitri or Ed Mubarak:D

Guess who's back?

Feels really good to be writing again and i'm saying this with a huge smile on my face.

So this morning as I watch over Laila the new News Presenter here at Fly Fm as she did the morning slot as part of her training. It's been awhile since i trained someone and the last person I trained was Aush which was like ages ago.

Well anyways I found out through twitter that Gmail was down for like an hour or something but we Malaysians didn't really feel it much cause it was during the wee hours of the morning. Meaning that we all slept through it and by the time we woke up gmail was all good to go.

As i was checking my e-mail (that seems to be working fine) i got one from Allaccess.com which tells me whats hitting the charts over in the USA. I do this now and then for hobbies sake plus it keeps me in touch with whats hot in the music scene internationally. I like :)

So far Best I Ever Had by Drake is hitting the R&B and Hip Hop charts but i don't it would ever get air play due to it's explicit lyrical content. I mean check out for yourself but viewer discretion is advised...use of foul language and the beginning starts of very baywatch-esk.

Catch Me, Mike, and Jules on 8TV Nite Live

Catch Me, Mike (in pic) and Jules on 8TV Nite Live, every Saturday to Monday, from 12:45 am to 2:00 am.

Hey guys,

Yes yes i know! It's been more than two months since i updated my blog. I used to blog everyday, and all of a sudden, I was MIA.

Two months is a long month. So what was happening on the Moe Nasrul's front?

On Fly FM, I'm still the news and traffic guy on the Pagi Show (and yup! someone won the whopping RM28,000 for guessing the right answer to "Malaysia has the thrid highest number of what?"), covering events and press conferences.

Radio ads and TV ads have slowed down. But on the positive side, i got a new gig! I'm hosting 8TV Nite Live with Jules and Mike. We alternate to host the show; so if you see Mike and me, you won't see Jules. And if you see Jules and Mike, you won't see me. And if it's Jules and I on TV, Mike is on vacation :D

The hosting job has been great. It marks my first break into TV. And i am thankful as ever for the hosting gig. Sure i sleep less nowadays at night-- host 8TV nite live on Mondays and weekends from 12:45am to 2am, then do Pagi Show from 6am to 1oam.

But like the Malays said, rezeki jangan ditolak. And while the body is young, work as much as you can.

I'll be going for a vacation by the end of this week. So if you don't see me on TV or hear me on Fly, you know i'm enjoying my vacation :)
