Grumpier than usual...

I feel that I've been going through a male version of PMS and maybe a little grumpier than usual.

I guess you can say it has to do a bit with the writers block I'm going through. Not fun spending hours on end trying to write song lyrics and all there is are 6 pages worthless scribbles. I can't help but to think some of the stuff I'm writing sounds cheesy. I blame commercial songs for polluting my head with mindless none sense hehehehe.

Aside from that, factors relating to my wedding plans have taken it's toll on my mind. Trying to make a perfect wedding is hard when you have a huge family. Everything seems to be very limited because catering for an event that can accommodate a billion people has lots of logistical issues like parking, would there be enough food for everyone issues and of course can the venue fit everyone and will everyone attend or am I wasting my time.

Wow, when I write it down it all feels better... God bless blogging. Although I find it funny that the things bothering my mind can all be summed up in two paragraphs. I would like to think that it would at least make two novels because that what it feels like in my head.

Oh well, it's 4:21AM in the morning and I tomorrow/today is going to be a long day. Will be on 8tv Nite Live too so gotta find a way to nap before the show so I don't look or feel tired. I wanna be hyperactive for you guys like always.

Woke up at Four today...

I'm not usually a "sleep all day" kind of person but I'm guessing since yesterday my good friend (and dang well good magician) went to the gym and really tortured ourselves.

I know going to the gym is not the same as torture, in fact it's supposed to be good for your health but what I felt was torture to me. So I guess my bodies a bit lethargic.

Thus were the first few thoughts of my lazy Saturday. I got a billion and one messages from Emily, my lovely fiance about how she's doing things on a Saturday and being a trillion times more active than me. I couldn't help but feel I missed a whole days worth of stuff... not sure what I would do but I'm sure it would have revolutionized something.

 Spent another 20 minutes just checking my e-mail and nothing important seems to be in it. Alot of Junk mail though. The amount of Junk mail that comes into my mail box is amazing! I swear i'd get all excited like "Oh my God I have 10 e-mails!" thinking that 10 people really want to get in touch with me and find that at least 9 of it is some crap for some service I cancelled half a year ago saying "Oh you left us but hey it's ok cause here is a package to make you wanna join us again! dot dot dot smiley face "

I wish I could see the person who wrote that in person and I'll probably lay down the People's elbow on his Jabroni ass just for being so annoying. Yes, I am using the lines from The Rock... hey it's cool and it fits any situation that you wanna lay a Smack Down.

By the way something off topic... you know that The Rock is back in Wrestling right?

So then got a few calls from a band I'm managing and it's some small stuff, nothing major.

Here I am on a lazy Saturday... just sitting on my bed and blogging. You know maybe I should just rest... that's what I'm meant to do maybe.

I rarely get mad at people, But something happened earlier today that just really pushed my buttons.

Have you ever have people trying to meddle with something they shouldn't be meddling with in your life? Ruining all your best made plans.

The gull of some, if only people like that could just leave me alone.

Evolution of the Zombie... In Movies

You may have your own opinions on the between the lines meaning of zombies movies. That they may reflect the consumerist nature of our society and that the spread of the zombie virus is similar to the effects of viral marketing. This post is not about that... in fact it is about the evolution of the zombies in zombie movies that I have noticed since... well, the day I started watching zombie movies.

Here is what I have noticed:

1) Zombies were the dead brought to life by Magic or Voodoo, once upon a time

This was of course based on the West African legend that a corpse can be brought back to life by a witch doctor or sorcerer. Apparently even the word Zombie came from the word Nzambi which means 'god'. Stating that the corpse was more like a Evil vampire god rather than a mindless automaton of flesh.

And the Movie the Evil Dead was the movie based on my recollection that stayed true to this mythological portrayal of the Undead.

2)Zombies then evolved to the product of a virus

The ever popular mode of resurrection. It's so easy to say some secret experiment had caused the world to become mindless eating machines because we know how viruses can evolve and that there is so much still yet to be discovered in the world of viruses. Making the perfect believable cliche´.

This concept apparently started off in such movies as Night of the living dead, Dawn of the dead and other zombie movies of the 80's. So from mythological magic to contagious viruses.

Oh yeah Hollywood also borrowed the contagious bite from Vampires and Werewolves. So it's triumvirate now of contagious evil,because it is so much cooler to know that you too can be evil willingly... or unwillingly.

3)Zombies are smarter

A concept explored a bit in Dawn of the Dead was that zombies retained memories from their living past. Thus making them a more cunning enemy. As well Zombies no longer attack at random but do so in groups proving that two heads (or a million heads) are better than one.

4) Zombies can run!!!!

That's right Zombies are not only smarter but they can run! No longer are they limited to lumbering slowly towards you in hopes that you will be dumb enough not to notice a rotting corpse walk towards wanting to slurp on some brain matter. They not only run but because they feel no pain they run like an Olympic 100 meter dash runner all day long!!

This concept was first introduced based on my movie knowledge in 28 Days Later. Where the zombies were not only hungry... but pissed off!! Excuse my American lingo.

This variant of the zombie, the fast running,cunning and amazingly angry Zombie is so popular that even the Resident Evil Franchise which was based on a video game (also known as Biohazard in Japan) which originally had the slow zombie turned their zombies into the fast ones. I mean do remember just running through the Zombies when you ran out of Ammo? or at least saving your machine gun and shotgun rounds for the final boss? Yup those were the original resident evil zombies. The fastest it ever moved was when i was less that an inch away from you and it toppled over like Old Man river slipping on a rock trying to grab you.

In conclusion, (really? does this post need one?) I think in terms of filming time and for creating Drama sake, The fast moving Zombie has become the final incarnation of Zombies so far. Thus making everything seem on a daggers edge and that the heroes just barely survived. If you ask me which one I like? Of course the fast Zombies!! It makes playing Left 4 Dead a heck of a lot cooler :D Although if a Zombiocolypse ever happens... I'd like the slower dumb ones...and a shotgun.

The Bed Intruder

Do you know the story of the bed intruder? You don't? or maybe you do but it has been awhile and that's ok. Because today is about the evolution of the internet sensation known as the Bed Intruder.

In the beginning, Antoine Dodson gave a rather unique interview to local new stations about a rapist whom had intruded into the bedroom of his sister Kelly and tried to rape her but due to some intervention the rapist ran. Which lead to the video becoming a youtube sensation.

Then The Gregory Brothers appeared into the fray and created an even more unique song which believe or not reached number 89 on the Billboard Top 100! Not bad for an internet song.

Now, Something Strange had happened... The song Bed Intruder has become so popular that even the hot lead singer of Paramour couldn't resist doing a cover.

This is completely random... so what happens when you sleep with your make up on? I found a video on youtube that says... nothing. No seriously, watch it for yourself :D

Pan-Asian or Eurasian...which is the correct term?

The question had come about when a close friend and I were waiting in line to buy tickets to watch the late night movie of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. We had met at the mall a friend of my sisters who was of mixed heritage (Caucasian mixed with Malay) and my Friend mentioned he looks mixed, to which i replied ' Yeah he's Eurasian'.

My friend then said "You mean Pan-Asian?"

Now mind you Pan-asian is a common term used by most Malaysians to describe a person of mix parentage and it wasn't the first time I heard the term being used.

I then replied "I think the proper term is Eurasian"

" I think you got that wrong it's Pan-asian"

"I don't think so." I got a little defense because English was my first language and I had this gut feeling (the one that tells you things) that i was right. " It's Eurasian because Caucasian are generally of European decent and when mixed with Asians you get Eurasians!"

OK i admit at this point i did sound like i was regurgitating a joke off Russell Peters but it's true and with a little humor it drives the point home with no sign of ill intentions.

Then we agreed to disagree and the topic would be over and done with... so i thought.

That's right it's nearly four in the morning and that measly unimportant trivial topic is stuck deep in my head and for one reason because English was my first language and if i got that wrong... what language am I good at?

I thus started my internet research (in Malay you'd say 'waaaah Rajin Gila') and what i found was a revelation of intense irony!!!

I went to Wikipedia and I typed Eurasian and i got my expected definition:

Eurasian - refers to a person of mixed Asian and European ancestry.

Yes!!! the battle had been won, so i was right but a lingering feeling told me that Pan-Asian could be a synonym for Eurasian.

So i looked up Pan Asian and I got redirected to Pan-Asianism (hmmmm...funny):

Pan-Asian - is an ideology or a movement that Asian nations unite and solidify to be free.

I was like what the Fish sticks on a cheesy sour dough bread!!! What so Pan Asian actually means fully Asian people or nations solidifying and freeing themselves? You mean full blooded pure no 'Mat Salleh' or 'Ang Mo' blood in them at all?!!!

SO are you saying that all them adds asking for Pan Asian looking people are actually looking for really Asian looking people? then the question I must ask is...

OMG- Rally Car Crash!

I randomly came across this video while surfing the net and i was just amazed by it.

What happened was in 1995 during a rally race a car had crashed almost hitting a photographer and if the photographer had moved even a milimeter he would have been gone... but you guys have to check it out.

Update

I'm currently stuck in the studio as i have to wait to do my voiceover for a radio ad and to pre-record my weekend show this week as i am heading to Penang this weekend. I have so many things to update, and yet time a luxury. So this is what basically is at the top of my head right now:

1. I have an interview with MASKULIN magazine tomorrow.
2. I still need to write about my KRABI trip.
3. My mother's day celebration.
4. The reason why my "Follower of the Week" was discontinued for over a month.
5. Gathering infos and research into Moe Podcast and Moe TV. Still ironing out the kinks:- branding, content, marketing, branding, promotion, and basically the business side of things.
6. The importance of family.

I would also like to take this time to thank my manager Aina, for working so hard to promote the name Moe Nasrul. A million thanks to Martin for his vision as my business manager and also single handedly create my website (it is still in the works, people), Emily for always being there for me, helping me in every way that she could, and most importantly, my mother...who despite everything, for hurting her unintentionally..still always show that she loves me unconditionally.

Moe Nasrul Will Be Back

Hi everyone,

Sunday Brunch @ Basil, Bangsar Village

This is a random post, memories of my welcoming brunch for Arif and Emilia, who came to KL together with my girl.

Emilia wanted to watch OIAM Season 3. Arif was here for a business trip. On Sunday, Emily and I took the couple for a Thai brunch. It was a coin toss between Indian Nirwana Maju and Thai Basil. And Arif fancied Thai.

The tom yam was awesome and hit the spot. But the other dishes (we ordered fried kailan, pandan chicken, and Pla Tot which is fried fish in Thai) were average.

The girls then went shopping around the boutiques in Bangsar and us dudes chilled in the bar :)

I hope you guys had as much fun. And despite me having recurring fever every two hours or so, i was glad i took the time off to see you guys.

The Rules for calling Shotgun.

After some random internet surfing (i was surfing for some car jokes to crack) i came across something so interesting that i had to put up a post about this topic. It reminds me of all those years growing up with my younger brother, Naim.

Now for those of you who do not know what 'Calling for Shotgun' means, let's have a peek at the Moe-tionary, shall we?:

Shotgun:
1. A gun that consists of two barrels.

2. The process in which a passenger has claimed the right to sit in front with the driver like two bullets in the barrel of a shotgun. Dave, Terry and Moe walk towards Moe's car and suddenly Dave yells "Shotgun"

Why I Love St. Patrick's Day

Do you guys like the new look of my website? It is just to reflect one of my favourite holidays.

I remember when i was in the States, St. Patrick's Day were celebrated by both the Irish immigrants and the locals alike, all with the spirit of concerted celebration of hope for better luck and fortune. There are huge St. Patrick's Day parades in certain parts of the States and the Chicago River is dyed green each year to commemorate the day. Malaysia has slowly catches up on the celebration where everyone is looking forward to be merry.

I also had the memories of celebrating this holiday with my friends from Uplands International School, Penang.

We're all finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow now, aren't we?
